Doyle Dykes - Blacksburg, VA

I hope a bunch of you get out there to see Doyle. I just saw him this past Friday (10-16-09) at the Skokie Theater in Skokie, IL. As usual, he was great, but the acoustics of this venue made him sound so much better than I have heard in the past.

He'll be in Lynchburg, VA, on 6 Nov, for a Taylor workshop at the Lynchburg Music Center... Tickets required (but free, I think).

If any of you go to see Doyle this Saturday, be sure to go up to him and say, "Russ Lowe from Chicago says Hi!" It's a running gag I have with him. Guaranteed to get a smile out of him if you do that.

Yup! It's a Deering "Vega" banjo. Doyle plays better banjo than he claims.

I'm pretty sure AGFers norseman, WeddingGuy, & preston will be there, in addition to myself. So he might hear it a couple of times before the night it over. I'll definitely post a report after the show.

Be sure to let him know you guys are members of the AGF as well. Doyle has a copy of the AGF Volume 1 CD that I produced for the forum and thinks all of the music on the CD is great! He knows that I'm a moderator here as well.

Well, I was thinking like by 6:30 or 7:00 on Saturday. The Hokies play Thursday night this week at ECU, so traffic to/from B'burg shouldn't be bad this weekend and accommodations should be available.
