Of all the various finger-style techniques, I can't think of any that involve routinely diminishing the role of the index finger in favor of the middle and ring fingers, and I can't think of anyone who plays that way. Go ahead and do it, if you want, but do so with the understanding that this probably isn't the best idea in the world.
