Default 1986 Taylor 510 Lemon Grove: SOLD Off Forum

Hey Guys and Gals,

I've decided to part ways with my 1986 Taylor 510. She's a stellar Hog Dread by any standards. From the Lemon Grove days when Bob was still active in the workshop.

This one has aged very well over the past 30 years. There are maybe 4 or 5 small dings or rubs here and there, but other than that, I can't find anything. Certainly no cracks or repairs.

Action is perfect, as is the intonation. Tons of saddle left should you choose to want it lower. I play a mix of light strumming and a poor fingerstyle, and she's setup spot on for that.

This guitar has the typical Taylor ease of play with a very comfortable neck for my hands. Fits just right. Just put on a new set of Martin SP Med/Light's and she really sings. Played her against a new D-18 a couple of days ago, and I know I'm a tad bias here but this was the winner, hands down. There were 5 of us who played them both and everyone had the same opinon...Subjective though, so take it for what it's worth.

Specs:

Neck: Mahogany neck with dark rosewood fingerboard & pearloid dot inlays. Rosewood headstock overlay & truss rod cover. Grover Rotomatic tuners. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.

Body: Dreadnought size body with bound top & back. Solid spruce top with 4-ply purfling. Rosewood bridge & bone pins with compensated saddle. Tortoise pickguard (lifting slightly, but an easy fix) & multi-ring rosette. Solid mahogany back & sides with herringbone center strip. There is no pickup.
