I've found both the NGS and CGF great strummers. Sure, I mostly fingerpick on the Ryans and use a flatpick on the Collings and Martins, but alot of times the guitar I want to play is a Ryan and I don't feel like fingerpicking. Sometimes I'm pretty heavy handed, and they hold up very well.

I've never played a 25.5 scale Ryan, except for the 12-string. It also takes a flatpick very nicely.
