As a recreation of an original L-1 done by Ren, right down to the original bracing patterns, it will be very different from any modern day versions Gibson builds. The upcharge is not for Ren's name on it, but for the uniqueness of the build. The original L series guitars were very special That said, you can't recreate old wood. Still, if the seller is offering a 3 day trial period it might be worth it to check it out. Is it worth it? Depends on how much you like the guitar.
