And to be honest, I'm still on the fence about mahogany vs. rosewood (or other tonewoods). Other Larrivees (OM-40R's to be exact) have been on my radar recently too, but without the ability to try them out first hand, I'm hesitant to buy one without playing it first.

I think that's a good plan. Keep trying guitars until you find something that moves you. Before you make a choice Perhaps circle back around and ask the sales rep to change the strings on the D-18.
