I do remember the original ads on the back cover of Guitar player Magazine with the image of a guy (right) who was a
sue-quality, spitting image of Tom Scholz. The ad hit right after Tom became famous, too. I do believe he went through a "molest-stache"* period some time in there too...
The other fun funkiness was that Fender seemed to be trying to get rid of the back stock of knobs from their "Fender Blender" fuzz boxes on this guitar.
Mmmm... No. I owned one for about a week in '74.
