Not saying it's the best amp in the world, but I've had very decent results using a tube Fender Champ 600. It takes pedals like a, well, a champ. I paid $150 for it a few years ago. I use an overdrive pedal for dirty tones and an old Big Muff Pi for shred type tones.

Season with a good old Shure 57. In my opinion, a very usable, albeit, basic,
tube amp tone at bedroom volumes.
