These guitars are braced to handle medium gauge strings, so the 13s would be fine (says that in their literature). Those strings would be a bit more punchy and focused...like the sound of a ripping bluegrass flatpicker. They will tend to damp the top a bit and give more string/body tone

My own preference is for the 12-53, standard light gauge strings as I want to allow more top excursion...easier to get it moving under a light touch.
