My wife and I like the beaches, but tanning is not a priority. We use 30 rated sunscreen and wear hats. We have a couple of folding chairs each with a canopy. Although some people lay under an umbrella, most don't, and our chairs are the only ones we've seen with a canopy. We may look nerdy, but we don't care.

I used to wear muscle t-shirts in the sun when working outside. I got tired of the painful sunburns and the itching that happens when it heals so I don't do it anymore.
