I don't know if Fender still does it, but they actually used to dip their necks in sealer (they called it Fullerplast) before finishing. I know early Charvel necks were dipped in something similar to TruOil and rubbed out. In both cases they did not leave them in for 5 days!

Other than that, I'd have to agree with everyone here that you didn't get what you paid for...
