Not surprised; for most people I've known who've never played a new Korean-made Gretsch E-matic it's a near-transcendental experience when they do - and I've yet to find any other current electric, regardless of make, that beats the price/performance/quality ratio...
Never had the pleasure of playing the 12-string version, but FWIW many a "George" in local Beatles tribute bands plays the 6-string version (which I
have played), and it's a worthy stand-in for the $3K '62 Country Gent...
Use it well, often, and LOUD - and you might consider changing your AGF name to "Gretsch Guru"...
