I have seen some pix of old ones - and they were generally ladder braced and gut/nylon strung.

There are a lot of differences :
-First of all - difference in tuning systems 6(E B G D A E) 7( dą b g d B G D)
-The construction of the guitar, six-string guitar neck glued to the body, and a seven-string guitar's neck is a separate part, it means that guitar has bolt-on neck.
- Diagram of bass bar on the upper deck - Scherzer
- The lower deck is made in the form of lens(it makes sounding of guitar brighter)
- Body of seven-string guitar is made from solid maple (the traditional material), whereby the sound became bright and crystal.
