There is not much to add other than you have three methods of interfacing with the PA from an electric and/or bass guitar.

Connect from the line out (headphone out) via a direct box, or mic the amp cabinet, or lastly, just plug the guitar into a direct box and interface it to the board without an amp.

We have done all three, and in fact my gigging buddy on Thur nights often plugs his bass directly into a small powered mixer we use for our coffee house gigs. This saves him the trouble of hauling in another amp.

It sounds fine, since the small PA we use is of sufficiently high quality.
