Here is the kicker though...With these specs, the HD-28 is now much closer to the D-18 construction wise. You'd get a true assessment of mahogany vs rosewood. Now that I think about it, I'd keep my D-28 because it will be more different than the D-18 than an HD-28 would...

Good points, Blue. I’ve had the new herd for a while now and I still don’t know which is my favorite. Some days it’s the J-45 that gives me the biggest smile. Other days it’s the 28. For a long time it was the 18. Bottomline, I’ll likely stand pat for now...and live vicariously thru the avalanche of NGD threads the rest of you will be posting a few months from now.
