Its time to prepare the neck for fretting. We chalk the fret board and sand it until the chalk is gone which tells me the neck is perfectly flat.
Each fret slot is beveled slightly using a 3 corner triangular file. This provides a gentle lead angle for the frets to enter into each slot:
Finally we use a hooked blade tool to remove any sanding or glue debris from the fret slots:
And now the fret board is prepped and ready to accept the fret wire.
