True about the case. I use Otterboxes and find them fairly easy to pop off and on, something I've gotten used to.
As far as the lightning connection, the Mic 96k came with 3 cables, including an Apple legacy connector, so I think for Apogee's part, they will always have current cables for adequate connections available, as long as they keep selling them.
