Of the components mentioned, I agree that the bridge has the most effect.

Dimensional stability and reasonable weight are the two properties that I value the most. Mahogany is light enough and very stable, but it is not particularly stiff. That is the reason most steel string necks have some sort of reinforcement. In general, the stiffer hardwoods are also heavier.
