I don't know anything about the price or background of this guitar build, but I can only imagine they thought the more bamboo they showed, the more "collector item" it would seem, resulting (in their minds) in sales regardless of the tonal qualities.

Agreed that it would have been interesting to hear one with a different top, but then again, the top is really the only thing you see when the guitar is hangin on the wall.
