Personally I like the darker ones. The softer sound tends not to fight for space with the main signal, adding a background ambient layer. The Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay is right up my street.

Another neat feature some pedals have is modulation eg the Way Huge Supa Puss or the Strymon El Capistan (which can also function as a basic looper).

If you plan to use the pedal for recording you might want stereo outs and maybe even a splitter so you can record wet & dry to separate channels for maximum control when you're mixing.

The important thing is just to get a pedal and play though A volume pedal plus a long delay can produce some amazing, lush sounds.
Hey thanks I'll check out the Deep Blue, Strymon, and Way Huge.

I tend to do tons of on line Youtube etc. research and have been doing that
And understanding of course the sonically limited nature of Youtube, etc. I do however find it useful for basic comparison, and of course feature/function etc. comparisons.

It is interesting (and we agree) that I also preferred the delay's that have a "softer" "darker" repeats which is why I was looking at the Carbon Copy" said to be darker and it also has the modulation feature a swell as being all analog.

I will be recording but had not been particularly looking at recording the electric git. in stereo or with a lot of outboard effects (although it is not out of the realm of possibility and I will keep that in mind) I have an excellent DAW system with numerous FX and mind-boggling sonic possibilities.
