I don't see the gripe. Martin is of the "traditional" school and builds them as such. I'm not sure if their X series offerings feature laminated spruce tail blocks but I can tell you that an installed end pin in a solid mahogany tail block and shipped in its case is a recipe for a key crack that could potentially split the guitar in half.
My thinking is this: is such a feature a deal breaker if you can easily install it yourself with a $6 reamer?
