Re: Mandolin Bros.: Think of the costs of an immense inventory, the years of expertise, can't compare. Sitting quietly in a room with 25-30K of fine instruments at your fingertips and no time pressures or extraneous sounds. Most importantly, it is privately owned. They care. No pressure.
I was in a larger store a few months back, and looking at a Martin Marquis and others.
The area was open filled with instruments, and another guy was trying electric guitars in a small amp, about 15 feet away! It was impossible to hear the one I was trying at the time. Finally the kind salesperson brought me into a private lesson room, which was ok, but that was across the store, so to try different ones, he or I had to go back and forth. All the while I am trying to remember what they sound like. Not conducive to a sale.
Just reduced the price on the Collings: 3100 or best offer.
