You said you had 4 - 5 pedals that you use. You forgot one word, "now"!
Keep the rabbit theory in the back of your mind! Pretty soon you went from 4-5 pedals to an addition on the house! Worse than any drug!
If you're making your own pedal board you just as well get a 4'x 8' sheet of plywood now and get it over with!
