Yeah, the CV's are a great value. Fantastic guitars, in my opinion.
And I actually like the stock pickups on the CV better than the stock ceramic pups on MIM Fenders.
I have heard that the CV pickups may be Toneriders, but I'm not 100% sure about that - but they are really good pickups. They are alnico III's. I have no desire at all to swap them out.
The CV50's has a pine body.
I've got an MIM Tele as well - the FSR Deluxe Ash Butterscotch - so no knock on MIM's at all, but I did swap out the neck pup on my FSR Butterscotch to a Duncan '59. I kept the stock hot ceramic in the bridge, as I like the tone of it.
As to comparing the two, I really like both. The CV50's has a slightly thinner neck than the FSR, but both play great. The FSR with the neck humbucker gives me a different tone than the CV, of course, but I'll never sell either.
