I played in a pit band a few years ago. I was playing my Gibson ES175 I was using a old Fender Deluxe box with a solid state Sidekick 65 modified to fit in the Deluxe box. From a distance it looks like a blackface tube fender.

After the show the sound guy ( a self proclaimed expert on tube sound ) said to me "You just can't beat those old tube amps. I said no you can't, and never told him it wasn't tubes.

In conclusion If it looks like a tube amp and you believe it's a tube amp then it will sound like a tube amp.

I have spent 39 years servicing industrial electronics so I know a little about electronics.

I really like my Loudbox Mini and would never trade it for one of those stone age, hot, heavy tube amps.
Thanks for the advice. I was playing around with the mini and was able to get it dialed in to where, to my ears at least, it sounds really mellow.
