Think again:Many of the local/semi-pro Beatles tribute bands use these instruments, and while they're not exactly dead-on authentic they do capture enough of the visual/tonal vibe through the right amp. As a Gretsch owner since 1964 (guess why...) and fan of their earlier work I'm somewhat biased toward the 5622T as the closest to an all-around Fab Four axe, but I've seen one group put on a credible "timeline" performance with "George" playing just the "Revolver" Casino and "Revolution" LP through a Vox AC30-VR and some well-chosen stompboxes, and given their modest prices you might want to consider this option if you want to cover all the bases (basses...?); inasmuch as you'll have neither Abbey Road Studios nor the late Sir George Martin at your disposal, it's probably as close as you're going to get on a limited budget...
