I played both the gloss and FT Bluegrass and I played them alongside a standard DR1000, a CODR1000 uni top, and a custom 12 fret short scale DR1000, (One of the benefits of living close to LA Guitar Sales. ) and there is a definite difference. The standard has a lot of brightness which is toned down by the use of the unidirectional top but the standard top with the 12 fret is even warmer than the uni top and retains more projection. The all uni Bluegrass is the warmest but it borders on muddy, which should appeal to CA fans but guys who like the normal Rainsong tone might not like it.

BTW, last year I got to try three variations of Jumbos at LA Guitar Sales, a standard, a uni top, and an all uni with similar results, the all uni was the warmest but a bit muddy.

I'm not much on writing reviews so hopefully Ted will chime in as well.
