Townes is considered by many the best songwriter to ever live. Personally I think Dylan has him beat, but not by much. Townes can really pick a guitar. Steve Earle is a great songwriter as well. These days I listen to a lot of Todd Snider. He is a hilarious/serious songwriter. The stories he tells are almost as good as his songs.
