Don Musser Guitars?

Just curious whether any of you have experience with these guitars and about the playability and tone characteristics of them? Thank you.

Since you're in NM why don't you go to DifferentCity and let us know what you think....I see very little written about them and have also been curious....

Joyce Woodson, award winning Western singer songwriter, has a guitar by Don Musser and raves about it. You can contact her through her website.

I am sure that she wouldn't mind giving you her impressions. And, if you haven't discovered her music, she is a great find - kind of in the Kate Wolf vein with a fabulous voice.

I have also heard Kathy Wingert speak very highly of Don's work.

Hope this helps.
Jayne

I don't get up that way very often (4.5 hr. drive), but if I do I will make it a point to try and play one, or two.

Thank you for that information. I will contact her (Joyce Woodson) and see what she has to say about the guitar.

Here's a bit of info on a Musser dread:

Musser Guitars

Joyce Woodson is a friend of mine, and I've had the pleasure of playing her Musser. It's a very well made, albeit heavy dreadnaught, with a multicolored back. Very nice. She loves it, and I can see why. Another friend of mine has three different ones, two dreads and one OM shape. Don makes each one himself, and they are very nice. Even though I am mostly a Collings and Martin player, I really appreciate hand made guitars, and Don makes some of the best. (He also seems to have an endless supply of Brazilian rosewood....but it would be wise not to ask him where he got (gets) it. I think it's from an underground, highly guarded bunker in Arizona somewhere in the mountains!)
