Great sort-of-old Ford Ad :)

Ha, what a joke!

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

It's funny how the small pics are very similar, until the big reveal,
where they show the real visual difference is the (let's face it) "homely" front end of that Ford. |
That was one ugly Ford.
|
Man I had one of those as a company car what a piece of junk ....1978-79 I believe.
|
American car manufacturers are still trying to regain reputation after the disasters that were the '70's and '80's. Most of the models from that 20 year period were junk. If you got 75,000 miles on one you got lucky.
This particular jewel was a case in point. Chrysler K cars were another. In the early 90's I discovered Honda, Mazda, and Nissan. :D |
The hubcaps, for starters, might be a slight giveaway along with the lack of aerodynamics
|
This is like Ford admitting their product is inferior.
If they did it today, Mercedes would sue them off the planet for copying their design and Ford's own advert would be the proof. |

Still a lot of 78 E and S classes out on the road today. Granada......all rusted into oblivion.....years ago.

I had one. It was not a Mercedes........

Ahh...70's "any car"...UGLY and rotted away in a few years. I think the manufacturers did us a favor by making them self destruct.
|
I'm from Detroit, and I can't believe anyone there would have cared if a Ford looked like a Mercedes or not.
