What's this strange chord? RAdams live "To Be Without You"
From BBC6 Radio Music, Ryan Adams playing "To Be Without You"
Capo on the third fret. Standard tuning. Chords are D/Sus, Gsus, Cadd( shapes, with single noet strikes on the E and walkup and walk downs on the A string. I know exactly what he's doing here except for chord he is playing at time 1:23, the then gets into the Cadd walkdown walkup. It is not the Dsus2 shape -- that's too melodic. The chord he plays out is slightly dissonant. I am completely stumped. Anybody have any ideas? |
Try (relative to the capo) 5-5-4-0-3-x. Pick you own name for it.

Is he playing a 12 string? I can hear a high F# against an open G which you wouldn't expect on a standard 6 string.
It's sort of like Code:

It is a six string...and voila!
Here's a video of him playing it. Yes, it is true, you can find ANYTHING on the internet. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04qmnyk It's a D/A shape up the fretboard. |
