LR Baggs Lyric?
What's the deal with this new LR Baggs Lyric Acoustic Mic System? How is it different than the Anthem?
|
The Anthem uses an Element UST in conjunction with the mic. This system is mic only.

Looks very interesting! The audio clips on baggs website sound really good.

If it's as clean as advertized it should give another option for a simple "in guitar" system. It looks like it's run thru a Venue so maybe a preamp is needed?

I noticed it's not available until winter 2013 so I wonder which end of 2013 it's coming. Also it says there is a discrete preamp so I suspect it's powered internally. It looked on the video and they run to the Venue from the guitar. The text suggests it's built in circuitry. |

Thanks for the heads-up. The Baggs folks continue to amaze me. "Relentless innovation" is indeed an appropriate slogan for them. If nothing else, this new system will be a boon for direct recording.

Seems like the Lyric would be great for recording. But would the Lyric be less desirable for live use compared to the Anthem? And because the Anthem has the Element, would it be better with a band?
|
The Lyric mounts on the bridge plate, like the K&K, not in the sound hole, like the Anthem. It's going to be different. Does anyone know what it's going to cost?

Those recordings aren't turning me on much.....at least the test recordings at the bottom of the page. Sierra's sounds pretty good, but she's using the Venue and they are not showing what it is she's plugged in to. Lots of variables there.
I'll stick to mics!;) |
The write-up says "no pickup"....so excuse this dumb question, but what does that mean?!? No battery? No endpin plug? I thought if it is installed internally, it is by definition, a "pickup"?
