Your favourite minimalist (1 vocal, 1 acoustic) recording/album?

No harmonies, no other instrumentation..just a voice and an acoustic guitar.

What are some of your favourite "1 vocal, 1 acoustic" recordings or albums?

Chuck Pyle - "Step by Step"

A couple/three tracks add some sparse fiddle, otherwise it's just a man and his guitar (and voice...oh what a voice).

Anything by Isaac Guillory

Nick Drake - "Pink Moon"
Even though the title track has 1 minimal piano part in it.

Joe Purdy's self-titled debut album.

Springsteen's "Nebraska" doesn't quite meet the criteria but it was the first thing to come to mind.

Bruce Molsky's "Soon Be Time" is nice but he plays solo with fiddle and banjo as well as guitar.

He might not be my favorite but he was the first to come to mind even though he was a bit before my time: Burl Ives. My parents had a few earlier records of his where the only instruments were a single guitar and his voice and where the two were not recorded individually.

Michael Hedges - Watching My Life Go By
Tony Rice - Church Street Blues
David Wilcox - East Asheville Hardware
Jackson Browne - Solo Acoustic 1 and 2
Brooks Williams - North from Statesboro
all tied for first;)

*there may be other very sparse instrumentation on a couple of tracks on each, but for the most part, they are solo efforts.

Dwight Yoakam - dwightyoakamacoustic.net - Incredible Acoustic renditions of many of his hits.

Richard Buckner - Self Titled - Seriously one of my top 10 favorite albums ever.

Palace Brothers-- Days in the Wake (might be two guitars here and there...I guess I'm cheating)
