whats the most common pick used
I use fender medium
What do u use? Dave |
Right now, I use a CLP .75 black tri.

I'm sure the most common is a Fender 351 medium. I use a 4mm John Pearse Fast Turtle that I modify to taste. That's about 6 Fender mediums glued together.

Try thicker if you'd like
I used to use a medium for everything. Then someone suggested I use a thicker pick. He told me once I got used to it, I could do anything as well as a M with a stiff pick, while having much more control on individual notes. He was right, except about one thing: double strumming, but I haven't done that in the last 10 years or so.
Though the colors can look Goofy and the XH is clear yellow and hard to spot, I LOVE the tone from the Dunlap gel extra heavy. And it's so cheap! http://www.musiciansfriend.com/acces...10300000609156 |

Fender 346, heavy and sometimes extra-heavy.
The shape makes a shockingly big difference |

For what it’s worth, I finally settled on Jim Dunlop Ultex .73mm, standard Fender shape. They wear more smoothly than Fenders. I play them sideways so the pointy end nestles into the second fold of my index finger so I can feel where the business end is — it’s weird, I know.

Historically, my best guess would be a Fender standard 351 medium.
But just a guess.... scott |
