R314KK Washburn Parlor questions
I tried to search conversations and got nowhere. Is the R314KK all laminate? Is the "rope" binding plastic? The built to look played out is well done. The inlay would cost me $100 to buy!
Sweet playing guitar. My local shop offered me one for $350 with the case. It played great. Sounded very full for a Parlor. Any opinions? I am thinking about moving my customized Epi ELOO VS to fund it. I love my Epi but I have copied its shape and built one I like better. |
they are all laminate, although some sites mistakenly say they have solid tops. i haven't seen one, but have heard good things. that is a good price, btw - let us know if you pick it up!

I had an R316SWKK (the all-solid version) -- fun guitar. Get it as long as you like the neck. Basically sounds just like a vintage parlor, but with much better intonation and better structural integrity. |
Hey Buddy
Here you go they are nice little guitars and a ton of fun to noddle with.
http://www.washburn.com/acoustics/vi...es/Page-2.html As for the rope binding it is all plastic and thats not to bad of a price they were about $450 - $495.00 street price when they first came out, but I would haggle a bit as they are not made anymore and the newer models are mostly all solids tops and a few are all solid woods, and besides it never hurts to haggle whats the worst he can say, NO so then you pay what you want.Ship Did I tell you about the one I just bought John ( a T.Kronbauer ) |
Hey Ship!
Plastic rope binding bums me out a touch. Looks real! As far as all laminate - heck I am always a Yamaha fan..... who am I to look cross at a nicely done laminate. Oh darn! It sounds good and its sturdy. The neck is cool. Something different to try. I am glad they chucked nostalgia and went with a truss rod! |
I used to own a Washburn 314 parlor. As others have said, it's a unique guitar that gives out a surprisingly loud and impressive old-time blues chime. I didn't find the neck an issue at all. Excellent value and a real one-off.

If I can sell my Epi 00 I'm going for it. The shop is holding it for me till Wednesday.

Yippy
Lets hope you find a nice home for your Epi and you buy the little parlor, oh and I say we see about some seed money for Calton cases US and Western Canada John and you can continue making guitars still in the back room.ship

I really like those parlors.. even considered the solid spruce/solid rosewood model (R320).
Only thing I dont like about them is that clunky case that come with them.. not my favorite case, for sure, lol. http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/r...R319SWKK-3.jpg http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/r...RNR319SWKK.jpg |
Washburn's parlors indeed look classy, though the slotted headstock and the extra-wide nut width (48mm = 1.89") are show-stoppers for me.
Also, I'm a little surprised by the high prices of even the all-laminate models, though I guess I should try one the next chance I get to find out if the tone is indeed worth the price. |

A buddy gave me a wooden Martin Coffin Case. Talk about heavy and clunky! |
