Emerald X20...Which Capo ?
I recently ordered an Emerald X20 6 string, (still needs to be manufactured)
When I receive my X20, I plan to tune it to D-d of maybe lower. I read some X20 owner/owners were tuning down to C-c with impressive results. On occasions, I plan to use a capo on my tuned down X20, but probably only to capo back up to E-e tuning I was wondering what other X20 owners may or may not recommend for a capo. Thank you |
I don't have an X-20, but when I played by brother in laws X-20 my standard Kyser 12-string capo worked just fine.

I own a few Emeralds and one is an X20 12 String. I do keep mine tuned a step lower to D and love it tuned there. I have a deeper voice and so lots of times I'm not even putting a capo on it. For when I do need it I had an old Dunlop Trigger lying around and it works extremely well with little pull on any of the strings and a need to re-tune.
They just have such great necks with awesome fret work that I think any decent capo should work well with it. Your gonna love the X20 12 String. I'm super impressed with mine! |
I have found this capri to be perfect for the X20. I also have a G7 performance capri which I love but just does not work well with the X20 in my opinion. This one is nice and lower tension and easy on easy off

I have always used a Shubb Deluxe on my X20's and it works great. They are around $15. No need to spend more. I usually tune again after installing the capo for pitch perfect results.
