For this build I'm doing a more traditional style rosette which is a first on my guitars. The design is a single ring and I've made the inner portion out of Amazon Rosewood to match the back & sides. I do a two step process which I find yields a clean result. Here I've made the solid ring and inlayed it into the top. Tomorrow I'll cut the inner and outer purfle channels, then glue the purfles in.

Making your own purfling takes time and there is always a learning curve.
http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/...pspcnbnqkq.jpg Final dry fit on the rosette is complete and all looks good. Now pass me the glue and I'll sing you a real song... http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/...pseppbw6w0.jpg |
Rosette cleaned up and I'm really happy with the result.
