Avalon A1-20 w/ K&K Trinity *Traded*

*update* Added a video that includes some strumming in DADGAD, flat picking in standard/drop D and some other fingerstyle noodles for you to get an idea the unique sounds a cedar-topped irish guitar can make. Be sure to use headphones and make sure the video is in highest quality option. While reviewing the video i found myself seriously wishing I had room to keep this beaut but i need the money and have more than adequate tonal options in the stable for the type of gigs I'm doing. Makes more sense to move this while its still near-mint.

Bought this beaut recently off another forum member (original owner) after making a post about wanting to buy a cedar-topped Irish guitar and realized I honestly don't need more than one Irish guitar in the stable. My McIlroy is pretty road-worn so this one will sell for more and must go.

That being said everything I'd heard about Avalon was completely true in terms of quality, intonation, and finish...I can honestly say even though these are priced lower than Lowden they are just as rewarding, sonically. This thing is a work of art that feels really, REALLY good to hold.. The neck is a smooth, shallow C shape unlike the soft v of most McIlroys and chunky C of most Lowdens.

Talking tone...the guitar has a crisp attack but warm tone, extremely balanced voicing across every string, up and down the fretboard. The immediate response to a light touch is exactly what you'd expect from a great cedar guitar, but unlike some others I've played it can get pretty loud like the old Lowden f-25 I owned. There's also a certain clarity to the bass notes that is very satisfying for fingerstyle, has great sustain but isn't overpowering. The videos below have no eq whatsoever, just an Audiotechnica 4033 condenser mic pointed at the 12th fret, plugged direct into a Zoom q8 camcorder.

With a tad thinner body than the usual Lowden F model and McIlroy A series, I think this shape would suit someone who liked the Irish sound but didn't want the deep body and wide lower bout that typically comes with it. It's honestly more comfortable for longer playing sessions than my McIlroy.

Below are the specs and the original Ad for this exact guitar. The only difference is there is now a K&K Trinity ($300) installed, and a tiny ding in the top near the rosette that is barely detectable. Otherwise mint. Will email a pic if necessary.

The A2-20 that I recently sold was a cannon for sure - one of the loudest guitars I think I've ever owned and the build quality is exceptional. Good luck with your sale!

Thanks Skip, I'd missed the opportunity to buy that a2-20 awhile ago and ended up purchasing the a1-20. I'm sure theyre alike in more ways then they're different. Hoping to move this to a deserving player asap.
