As I start this new year I find myself a little overextended with my guitar collection and after much deliberation I think I’m gonna try to hang onto my Petros and have it as my only "good" acoustic so I’m selling off some other really nice guitars to make that happen. So here’s what I got up for your consideration:

2000 Larrivee L-09 ON HOLD

Love this guitar and my first “nice” guitar was a Larrivee L-03re so this guitar brought back a lot of good memories. Again, would love to keep this one but if I’m keeping the Petros having another spruce/rosewood guitar is a bit of a repeat. Spruce top, Rosewood back/sides, ebony fingerboard/bridge, flamed maple binding, white plastic fretboard binding, standard 25.5 scale, 1.75 nut, upgraded Gotoh 510 mini tuners, Bocote bridge pins, aftermarket hard case.

The bad: Not a perfect guitar, definitely shows some wear. Nothing major but its got some dings around the body and a spot where the finish is worn off on the side of the neck. No cracks.

The good: Great sounding Larrivee! Nothing to not like about this guitar. It plays easy, comfortable body shape, nice even sound, plenty of volume. Really great guitar and it would be hard to beat for the money!

2004 Taylor GC Custom (K12c) - SOLD

What a sweet little guitar and one of the best looking sets of Koa I’ve ever seen! My understanding from the previous owner is that this was made to be a K12c and was ordered as a custom because they did not make a K12c in 2004. Its Sitka over highly flamed Koa, ebony fingerboard/bridge, tortoise binding, standard 25.5 scale, 1.75 nut, 14 fret, gold Grovers, Taylor hard case.

The bad: Its definitely in “players” condition with a fair amount of dings and dents. I did my best to take a photo of all the damaged areas and want the next buyer to know going in what they are getting. All the dings are in the finish and there are no cracks in the body that go into the wood. I noticed one small finish crack along the edge near the waist where a pickguard would be and have a photo of that in the album. The bridge does have a fine crack between the pins but I’ve had the guitar for almost a year and it is totally stable. The only other damaged area worth pointing out is on along the purfling on the cutaway where a small piece of the abalone was knocked out. There was a small piece still in when I got it so I put a small dot of CA glue on it just to keep it in place.

The good: With all that out of the way, this guitar is amazing. One of the best sounding Taylors I’ve ever owned and I think I’m up to about 30… Has such a full tone and while you aren’t gonna confuse it with a Dread, its surprisingly full for being a Grand Concert. I’ve had 3 Taylors that I would classify as sounding like a hand built guitar and this is one of them. Its super super responsive and plays like a dream! Only reason this ones not hanging around is I just cannot get comfortable with a small body guitar. If this was a GA body it would be going nowhere!

If you can get past the cosmetics you will get one of the sweetest, prettiest little Taylors out there!

1997 Taylor 514c(e) - SOLD

This is one I am going to regret selling but I have a sentimental attachment to the Petros and unfortunately I don’t have the finances right now to keep both! A sweet Taylor 514c from Taylor’s “Golden Era” that has an aftermarket pickup. Cedar top, Mahogany back/sides, ebony fingerboard/bridge, “smiley” bridge, 1-piece mahogany pre-NT neck, tortoise binding, standard 25.5 scale, 1.75 nut, 14 fret, gold Grovers, Taylor plastic case.

The bad: Another “players” condition guitar with a number of dings/dents that I’ve tried to show in the photos. All the damage is cosmetic and there are no cracks in the wood. Small finish crack between the pickguard and the binding. Fine finish crack along the lower bout. Some finish worn away around the soundhole. No idea what kind of pickup is in it.

The good: All the love of mid-90s Taylors is well deserved! This guitar appears to be built lighter than the more current guitars. About as easy to play as they come. Very fast and comfortable neck and set up with low action. And the unknown pickup actually sounds really nice :up:

This one is gonna make someone happy!

The 514 is going to be a real sweetheart for someone. You are right about the 90s Taylors being built lighter! Everything got a tiny bit more beefy when they went to the NT necks.

If I did not have this 514s cousin I would be on it!!!
