Best / Lowest prices Acoustic Guitar, USA made, Solid Wood

Searched a bit for this post, and found a lot of fragmented data. Looking for the usual AGF spirited discussion, so..

What am I looking at here? What is the minimum price tag, and how does it sound?

Check out the 15 and 16 series from Martin and the Taylor 300 series.

Most used Tacomas meet your requirements, too.

"the minimum price tag" is going to be a bit under $1000. "How does it sound"? You tell me! You should be able to find something you like a lot in this price range.

That's about it. The Martin D-15M can be had for under a grand (new) if you ask nicely, around $700 used.

If I were looking for the best American-made, solid wood acoustic, I would consider the custom small body 15-series guitars that Ted at LA Guitar Sales has available to the AGF. http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=252501

Other than Martin, Taylor, Gibson and some Guilds, I'm not sure who in America makes a production acoustic guitar. Of those four, I'm guessing the Martin 15s might have the lowest price tags.

Are you asking, "What is the lowest priced, solid wood guitar that is made in the USA?"

I guess I'd start with the usual suspects: Martin and Taylor. For Martin, it would be the "15" series, Taylor the "3" series. You might also look at Guild, although I believe that their lower priced models are made in China.

Slim pickin's for USA made solid wood acoustics in that price range ... but if you're willing to look about 30 miles north of the Maine/NewHampshire border to the little village of La Patrie, Quebec you'll find some really great Godin family solid wood guitars for well under $1,000 bucks. :)

I gotta go with the Martin 15 series of guitars. Double header, lowest price and the best!!

Keep on the lookout for a Larrivee 3 series (Made in Canada & USA)- can often find them under a grand.. Check out the classifieds on their forum.

Sometimes used Guilds. I paid $700 for my used Guild CO2 that arrived in perfect condition and it's an amazing sounding guitar.

Not sure if these are made in the USA or south of the border since I don't own one. Also don't know if MF's current promo discounts would apply....

taylor dn-3 probably the lowest priced usa made guitar. It certainly is an awesome guitar for that price too.

Dont know what is exactly the lowest USA made guitar, but I agree with others the Martin 15 series are outsanding value.

I would second this recommendation.

And I would include Canada (disclaimer - I am not Canadian) as an acceptable country of origin if I were you. Our hockey-loving friends to the north make some fine guitars. In other words, Godin-family too.

Bedells and Breedloves are nice.
