RIP Mike Taylor. John Denver's 1st lead guitarist.
Mike Taylor, co-writer of Rocky Mountain High, Sunshine on My Shoulders, Eagle and the Hawk and Season Suite passed away yesterday. His guitar licks are heard on many John Denver albums from the 70s.
Mike was the one that created the opening guitar lick on Rocky Mountain High. Wow. I'm listening to Rocky Mtn High at the same moment I clicked onto this. Now that's beyond weird.

RIP.
I spent hours, days, weeks and months trying to learn Late Winter, Early Spring back in Junior High School. What a great tune. Darryl |
Sorry to hear that. I searched but couldn't find any info of his passing.

Aw, man. I'm officially old.

I love the riff and I love John's music. Thanks for making me aware of Mike's passing. May he rest in peace...

What did he die of?
|
RIP. He and Maury Mueleisen (lead for Croce) taught me a bunch. Don't hear guys like that much anymore.

Thanks for the link. Mike was a friend of mine on Hilton Head Island. As extraordinary as he was as a guitarist and song writer, he was more so in his dedication to history and the preservation of a way of life few appreciated.
On the island, we shared music and stories. He was a great muscian and friend. |

Sorry to hear about the death of Mike.
I loved his guitar work and spent many nights listening to him playing Late Winter Early Spring with John Denver. My thoughts go out to his family. |
