214e or 114e
anyone got one of these and play them live? how is the electronics?
thanks!:D |
my suggestion would be this....try to find a 214 solid body sapele without electronics and put in an aftermarket product...that would be the ideal 214 for me. I prefer the solid body sapele over the laminate rosewood.

good suggestion, but i got 3 all solid wood guits. and what i was asking was if anyone has one and could give me their take on it, and have expierienced them in a plug and play setting. :D

I've got a 214ce and use it exclusively plugged in.
I know some people aren't crazy about the sound but I love it and have received many compliments. I love that I can just plug it in to any system and go. Having only three buttons to worry about is great. that's why I chose it over many other guitars with other pickups especially the Fishman system with graphic EQ and stuff. all I got was feed back and rumbles. The 214ce is truly plug and play. |

The solid wood vs laminated wood argument is over done in my opinion, for sides and backs. It's the top that vibrates. The rest supports the top and reflects. The primary difference between the 1xx and 2xx I believe is the side/back laminate material (so what). Both have the X bracing and the same ES-T electronics. The 214CE includes a great hardshell case, the 114CE includes a gig bag. Yep, I am jealous of my friend's 214CE. I have spent a mini fortune trying to get that sound. If only it had a wider neck. Currently saving for a 314CE. Jack |
I would buy the 214, it looks better IMO. They sound very similar to my ear.

I usually set the mixer somewhat flat and adjust the base and treble from the guitar. It doesn't get easier. After 6-months I have had no issues. +1 to Jacks comments |
any chance you or jack could pm me the price you spent for the 214ce?
in the end, i will always choose rosewood. thanks!:D |
pm sent
good luck |
