Info for an Alvarez 5014
Anyone know anything about this model. I have just discovered I could be getting one soon. It belonged to my great grandfather and has been pretty much case stored since he passed away several years ago. Apparently he bought it new in the 70s I think. I didn't even know he had one.

Problem is Alverez recycled model numbers quite often. But congrats on the new sentimental guitar.

I have one and it is one of the best sounding all laminate guitars from that time period. It is a OM short-scale model (24.75"). Let me put it this way. I had a Martin 000-28H. I sold the Martin and kept the Alvarez. There will folks here that will think I'm an idiot for keeping the Alvarez over the Martin, but it is all about the sound.:D

I had the dread cousin 5022 that I bought in th 90's and it was a great cheap guitar with a 1-11/16" nut but the strings were spaced apart nice. Not a high dollar guitar but it could be a great camp instrument.

Try this place....
http://www.alvarezgtr.com/messageboa...5a22ba426d8176 I have a 5043 artist model from the late 80s... Oak back and sides, oak laminate top.. not the easiest to play, but man that thing has some volume! I keep it at my office to play around with. |

I've got 6 Alvarez acoustics.... Love 'em to death. A '76 5014, 3 5022's (70, 76, and 77), '80 5021, and a '91 5037. The vintage Alvarez guitars stack up to any comparable Martin or Guild at a fraction of the price..... |
