Indulge my paranoia! Is my Yamaha LL11 fake?
Hi all
I bought a used Yamaha LL11 recently and just want to check it is legit. If I were to take and post photos would anyone be able to tell? Any other ways of checking? Many thanks Max (PS - if photos are needed I'll take them in the morning as they'll come out better in natural light). |
What makes you think that it may be a fake?
Pictures inside and out of the guitar will help. |
Post us some pics.
There are some Yamaha experts (as much as anyone can be, at any rate) here on the AGF who would be happy to help in any way they could, I have no doubt. |
Thanks guys.
What makes me think it might be fake? Nothing in particular I guess. The guys I bought it from seemed a bit odd, and the whole transaction was a bit strange too. Also, he lowered the price from £375 to £300. Plus, I always like to double check these things after buying a fake SM57 mic several years ago. Anyways, here is a link to the photo album. There are lots of pics because I need to take some for other things too. Unfortunately, when I uploaded them to PB they went out of order, lost their titles, and some of them rotated as well. But they are all there somewhere! http://s263.beta.photobucket.com/use.../Yamaha%20LL11 Thanks again Max |
Looks legit. Nearly a dead ringer for my LL16, and I was there when it was delivered and uncrated.

out of curiosity, are there a lot of fake Yamahas floating out there?
|
hey Max, if it's a fake they've gone to a lot of trouble replicating fret ware and most of all - those fluff balls, they take years to build up to that size.
have you found where your gonna get it fretted yet ? Norfolk way ? |

Are Yamaha's counterfeited regularly? If you're going to offer a fake, seems you would fake a Martin or Gibson to maximize your payback.

not fake is my take
That's what I'd think. Yamahas these days are largely produced in China, aren't they? So it would be weird to imagine that they produce fakes, too. Adding to that, faking a higher-end model or brand for that matter should promise higher returns to the trouble. Adding to that, I think this particular model looks more like one produced in Japan in the 1980s or 90s, I'd guess its the genuine ware.
