Guitar rack

I have 4 guitars - RK 0 size parlor, Gretsch Bobtail resonator, Republic Resolian parlor resonator and a standard classical.

I want to get a rack for themad am considering the following 2:

OR

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/acces...ne-guitar-rack

The Hercules gets great reviews (and in a recent thread) but I like the look of the wood string swing.

Anyone have experience with them? Are they as sturdy as the Hercules? Would the string swing even hold 4 acoustics (they show it with electrics)?

At the end of the day utility means more to me than looks but if I can get both...

Sorry, I think they are both a bit fugly.

It also looks like you'd have to modify the wooden one's neck spacers for 4 acoustics.

I preferred this from same store : http://www.musiciansfriend.com/acces...ghtcase?pfm=sp You'd get 4 acoustics in that.

Personally tho', for home living room use, I'd keep looking for something easier on the eye.

I often find stuff by Googling that particular thing, then going straight to "images" on the results page.

Good luck. :)

Guitar Rack

I purchased a nice guitar rack, jet black, completely padded, holds 7 acoustic guitars and is available on eBay right now for under $20! :p

I'd take the Herc over the other one, just for functionality.

I'd also stick with what I have, the QuikLok... It comes in 3, 5 and 7 guitar versions.

I built one that held 7 D-size acoustics a few years ago. I got the directions from someone on AGF. Easy & really nice. Alas, I gave it away when we moved last year. Search the archives here. You can make a nicer one homemade for cheap & make it the size you need.

Yeah but the guy's only got 4 guitars Dave .... So, yeah, good call !

Reckon he's missing a D-28 m'self. :guitar:

Actually Coloradoman, why on earth haven't you got a D 28 ? I've got a Republic Resolian myself too. ... Nice fun li'l' box, but seriously, have you played an HD 28 V ?

You've been here a year now. It's time.

I use a Warrick Rock Stand 7 guitar stand with the center dividers cut off.
I have two, both bought from Guitar Center as damaged/clearance items.

Check to see if the plastic and foam used in those products will not adversely react with the finishes of your particular guitars.

Just in case, I wrap the foam with cut black t-shirt material and secure with zip ties.

I DO have a Martin HD28 and I am selling it right now. Shoulder arthritis - just can't play dreds anymore. It sounds so good I cry a little when I think about it but it just isn't my reality anymore. I just played a friend's Gibson AJ last night that was sooooo nice but after about a half hour my right shoulder was on fire. Couldn't even play for the rest of the night.

I think I'm going to go with the Hercules. I think practicality needs to trump looks in this case.

Nice, kydave. I love D-28. How your guitars order like siblings.

badguitarist 10-25-2014 09:40 PM

Wait? The D-28s don't come with the rack?

I have one of these I might try that

Without a doubt, I'd go with the Hercules. It's solid, practical, and versatile.
