Another vote for the BBE Acoustimax. For the price a wonderful pre. I dual source a Sunrise with it's preamp amd Fishman Matrix with BBE into separate channels of Yorkville AM 100 (which has balanced out to board). Comments are it sounds just like my guitar (unplugged) but louder. I have tried many p/u's, amps and pre's and this is the best combo yet without spending thousands.

Pendulum Audio SPS-1

Red-Eye Twin

Another +1 for SPS-1

A very broad question. There are "best" ones at every price level and you can spend a small fortune or a few hundred . The entire signal chain is what is important starting with the input signal. For example , are you miking the guitar or do you use pickups? Dual source pickup , magnetic or UST? This information would help us to recommend a preamp. Is this for live or studio?

+1 Mutantrock.... I have no doubt Pendulum is the best, but also very expensive. Seems in this "new" economy I for one don't have an unlimited bank account to spend thousands on music like I would want to. I had a couple hundred dollars to spend and read a lot of reviews, then took a chance on the BBE Acoustimax. I have always been a fan of the BBE Sonic maximizer, so with that a part of this unit, it seemed to be the one to try. I couldn't be happier with the sound. The dual sourcing and blending of the pickups makes an incredible amount of difference in the sound also. I haven't tried any studio work with this as my intent was strictly live.

radial pz pre tonebone is a good preamp?
|
+1 Tonebone. I like the features on it and Radial is highly regarded for quality construction and sound.
|
the d tar solstice is better than the radial pz tonebone? which is best equalizer?
|
Soltice = 2 channel ( if you need it)
ToneBone = 1 channel IMO, the Tonebone has a "better" EQ because it has a sweep mid range and also a notch filter |
