Another quick movie review
I recently watched It Might Get Loud
It was nice to watch. It really talked mostly about the electric guitar sounds each of the three stars used. This was literally the first time I ever heard Jimmy Page in an interview - he was always such a mystery and in this he was very down-to-Earth, articulate, intelligent, focused and very normal. I always thoguht he was a zany Andy Warhol artiste' type. Other than the frilly shirt cuffs, he seemed like a super normal guy. It was very cool. I like The Edge so his story was interesting too. Jack White talked passionately about old blues and using the most crude guitars. But......some of his stuff was so melodramatic - like intentionally bleeding on his guitars and stomping on them and dramatically fighting with his guitar to "beat it". It was just melodrama. There was sort of a mini jam session at the end where they each sort of led one of their own songs. Frankly, it looked awkward and forced and no one seemed really comfortable - there was like no chemistry, except maybe some expertise respect in conversations between Jimmy Page and The Edge. I don't care for The White Stripes (I do love some alternative and punk). I respect that The White Stripes won a grammy three years in a row. But, it was like a three-man cast of "legend", "super-legend" and oh this other guy. It was ok. I'm glad I saw it. I got it at our local library so it was free. I'm glad of that too. |
The sight of Jimmy Page playing air guitar to "Rumble", with the same goofy grin that I get when I play air guitar to a song I love.............Priceless. :D

I mean.....everyone plays air guitar to HIM - he doesn't play air guitar to other people!...unless.....he's like a regular guy. |
