2018 New Martin Standard Series...I'm in trouble...

Ok, Martin has gone and done it now. They are changing up the entire standard series....uh oh!

Looks like I need a standard HD-28, D-35, 000-28....the list goes on!!!

EDIT: Add a GPC28!!!

As a player, I honestly think Martin has a home run on their hands. As a dealer, I wonder if we might see a "run" on the older style models. 1 11/16" neck fans, the clock is ticking. :guitar:

I'm confused. I thought the current D18 has a 1 3/4" nut ???
I just measured it...1 3/4"

It does, as it was one of the first guitars to get the updates the rest of them are getting this year. He's referring to the guitars that had yet to be updated (HD-28, D-35, 000-28, et cetera).

I wish they'd included the 15 series in these updates, but it's still great to see Martin apply these changes to more and more guitars. They've noticeably improved the guitars that already had the updates, so it makes sense to apply it more broadly now.

Just when I thought I was safe banking on a D-18 after having compared it to the new D-28, they have to go and do this! Might have to try an HD-28 just in case... :D

I finally see an HD-28 in my future....:D

Wow? I have a feeling a lot of folks who have been waiting for wider sting spacing are ordering up! First the 18 then the 28 now the HD-28 and 35, 41, 42, and 45!
Maury may be right...there may be a run on the older models with the more narrow string spacing? But I think this is a good move for Martin. Next to tone playability is everything...

Might be some deals on the used market for those of us who are skinny-fingered or nut-width agnostic.

GPC-28 is getting an update? That Guitar is only couple years old.

How about GPC-18E?

Doesn't the GPC-18 already carry similar specs to the already updated 18 series? My guess is Martin has been watching their 18 series update very closely since 2012, and with the success of the D-28, they confirmed it was time to make the change.

Do you know what they are changing to the GPC-28? Where did you see/hear about them updating the GPC-28?

Thanks

Oh Brother! GAS Overload! Maury, I have you speed dial.

I can't believe it happened again. I bought two guitars in 2016/2017 that have both upgraded with exactly the same features I wanted when I compromised at purchase. *Face Palm* My music gear is now no different than my iPhone. LOL

Specifically, I just bought a D12-28, which is a nice guitar, but I would have definitely sprung for the new features. So, I have to play one and see if it sounds better, or just looks better. Otherwise, I've gone through a bunch of gig guitars trying to find the one. What I've wanted all along was an HD-28 / HD-28V with the new neck and a good pickup system. I tried the Retros with the awesome F1+ pickup, but couldn't find one that had the right acoustic tone. And, they are so rare that you could't be picky. Unfortunately, I don't think VT Enhance is the answer for me, but now you can get a forward shifted/scalloped braced HD-28 with the new neck and DROP IN saddle, should I choose to go with a Matrix and Aura pedal.

Besides that, they gave me gas for a 40 series. I have no practical use for a 40 series. But, now they come with my favorite neck and forward shifted bracing.
Drool.....

Not certain what changes on that model, but here is the link.

Does a 1/16” make that much of a difference?
