Korg Konnect amp

Has anybody seen, heard or owned a Korg Konnect amp? Appears to be relatively new.

Extremely new, first time I heard about it was today, so I guess it's a "NAMM 2018 product". Resembles the Mackie Freeplay, but doesn't seem to have a battery option. Interesting product though!

Cheers,
Per

$399 Pre-order price at Sweetwater.

Here a link to Korg's site.

It's a bummer about the lack of battery. I really like the form factor of the Mackie, but the Korg is stylistically superior.

I have a thing against playback systems that look like they belong in a 14 year old's bedroom...what can I say? ;) No offense to the 14 year olds in the room. I'm just not there anymore.

I'd consider something like this plus a plug-in battery pack for busking gigs. Interested to hear how it sounds.

As I understand it the Korg Konnect takes 20/24 volt DC from an external power supply, so it should clearly be possible to put together an external battery pack.

It's a lot of money for a small amp.... 180 watts isn't going to fill many rooms. Seems everyone is jumping onboard the smaller is better and throw in Bluetooth connectivity to your phone for mixing.

From the specifications
Quote:

Input jack: Channel 1 MIC input jack:
(XLR type [balanced], 6 kΩ, specified level -20 dBV)

MIC/LINE input jack: (6.3 mm monaural phone jack [unbalanced], MIC: 3.5 kΩ, specified level -20 dBV, LINE: 7.5 kΩ, specified level 0 dBV)
So you get super low fixed input gain... (Same story as JBL eon one, Mackie freeplay...) and LOW-Z input.

At least they write it in the manual:
Quote:

*13 MIC/LINE switch:
Switches between either MIC level or LINE level on the MIC/LINE input jack for channel 1.

Tip: When connecting a passive-type guitar or other instrument (one that does not use a preamp), connect the instrument to a commercially available preamp or effector first, and then connect the preamp to the LINE input jack of the KONNECT
Except Fishman, nobody wants to put gain pots anymore... Let's hope Bose S1 Pro will be better designed.

Bose S1? Que es?

Nice unit, until I checked out the pdf manual for this on their website.

There are no outputs - neither heaphone or line-out jacks. So basically, you can't link them to ANYTHING like a mixer, pa system, powered speakers, or even another Korg Konnect, etc.

The lack of this feature also makes it useless as an on-stage monitor as well.

I'll pass on this item.

YMMV
