NGD: Squire Classic Vibe 50s Telecaster
 

Well, actually, I bought this guitar a few weeks ago. I sold my Standard tele (MIM) and bought this one. The tone is more to my liking. Great guitar!

This is a song I wrote and recorded using the CV for the lead. Not great playing, but had fun. The amp is a Yamaha THC10.

I really like that song! The Tele parts sound good.

Lately my Tele has been the one guitar I have had trouble putting down, just cant get enough of it.

Great guitars for the money and a great buy. Enjoy it. I was recently checking them out online and, wow, the weights were all over the place. I saw one that was just about ten pounds on Sweetwater...yikes. That's Les Paul territory.

Have always loved the combination of acoustic and electric lead like you've used here!

Congrats on the new Tele! Yep, as Dru says, they got it right with that series, all the Tele and Strat models I've tried feel really nice.

I've definitely got a lot of respect for the best guitars which Squier make. It's not rocket science: pick some decent materials and put them together well and you've got a good electric guitar. Flavour with the pickups of your choosing.

Don't get too hung up on lead guitar skills. It's much more important to know how to play the right note at the right time than it is to play fast. You can always do much more than you think you can - provided you put the hours in to practice and have the patience to stick it out.

Yeah, I've got one of the almost 10-pound Classic Vibe 50's Teles....

It's a boat anchor, but it plays and sounds so good that I just can't get rid of it..

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the CV vs the MIM Fender if you get a chance. I hear the CV version is incredible value for money, but I've never played one

I know I should probably leave it over there since I'm going to have to ship it back when we relocate back but it could be a couple years and I've been
Itching to play it.

Yeah, the CV's are a great value. Fantastic guitars, in my opinion.

And I actually like the stock pickups on the CV better than the stock ceramic pups on MIM Fenders.

I have heard that the CV pickups may be Toneriders, but I'm not 100% sure about that - but they are really good pickups. They are alnico III's. I have no desire at all to swap them out.

The CV50's has a pine body.

I've got an MIM Tele as well - the FSR Deluxe Ash Butterscotch - so no knock on MIM's at all, but I did swap out the neck pup on my FSR Butterscotch to a Duncan '59. I kept the stock hot ceramic in the bridge, as I like the tone of it.

As to comparing the two, I really like both. The CV50's has a slightly thinner neck than the FSR, but both play great. The FSR with the neck humbucker gives me a different tone than the CV, of course, but I'll never sell either.
